Kruger is known for its Big 6 Birds. During this trip I managed to see 5 of the Big 6 obviously the Pels Fishing Owl is a bit challenging to find).

During my last few trips, I saw very few (if any) Lappet-faced Vultures. During this visit I saw quite a few of these vultures, especially in the Satara area.Lappet_faced Vulture

I was also lucky to see many, many Saddle-billed storks. These birds are really beautiful, and they can walk so stately.Saddle billed stork Saddle billed stork

Kori Bustards are our heaviest flying bird. I think a visit to the Satara area without seeing these gorgeous birds is very rare – I always find them in the area. And on this trip I was not disappointed. I found 3 birds on the S89.Kori Bustards

On another occasion I spotted a few on the plains just north of Satara. At first I thought there were 4, then I saw more movement and realised that there were seven of them! Unfortunately, they were just too far to get photos, but it was a fabulous sighting!

The Martial Eagle is one of the most powerful eagles. It often feels as if they can look straight through you with those piercing yellow eyes. I saw about 5 or 6 of these gorgeous eagles during my trip.Martial Eagle

The Southern Ground Hornbill is one of my favourite birds. They are the stand-out memory of my very first Kruger trip with family and friends when I was just a little girl. I saw these 2 on the H7 just before Satara.Southern Ground Hornbill

Because these birds are so special, they will get a bit more airtime later.
