Biyamiti Weir

I was always going to leave the Park by driving via the Biyamiti weir. As I arrived moment on the weir caught my eye – it was a little Pied Wagtail. I then spotted something very special – its mate sitting on their nest.Pied Wagtail

There must have been babies in the deep cup as the adults were bringing food to the nest at regular intervals.Pied Wagtail

I had experienced all the incredible lion and hyena sightings, but this little bird on a nest was just as special, if not more.Pied Wagtail

The eye-level view provides a lovely perspective of the birds that were around, like this African Jacana and Hamerkop.African Jacana Hamerkop

The little Black Crake was walking on a little island of water plants when the “island” suddenly moved! Until that moment I would never have guessed that there was a hippo in the water.Black Crake Hippo

I spent more than an hour at the weir. It was a wonderful way to spend some of my last few hours in the Park.
