Grey HeronWith the excitement surrounding the eagles, I am finding it very hard to stay away, and I found myself going again on the Saturday afternoon. My first stop was the hide. It was rather quiet at the hide. There were a few Sacred Ibises, a Common Moorhen as well as a Grey Heron.

I was excited to see this cute little Bar-throated Apalis as it is a bird that can be quite challenging to see and photograph!Bar-throated Apalis Bar-throated Apalis

I arrived at the hide just in time to see the Pied Kingfisher with it’s meal. It took him about 20 minutes to tenderize the fish before he swallowed it!Pied Kingfisher Pied KingfisherPied Kingfisher Pied Kingfisher Pied Kingfisher Pied Kingfisher

My afternoon visit had one last surprise in store – I noticed movement high up in a tree, and was so surprised to see the Klaas Cuckoo! These are typically summer visitors, and it was very unexpected to see one in the Gardens in July!Klaas Cuckoo Klaas Cuckoo

My afternoon delivered some great moments, ad it was well worth the visit!
