I had no plans to do any birding this weekend. I was having my first cup of coffee, and thought I would check the Rare Bird Reports. I saw the Slaty Egret was seen this morning. The spot was less than 30 minutes away. I had no choice really. When I arrived at the co-ordinates, there were 2 other guys looking for it, but the bird was not there. We had to drive a couple of kms up the road to another dam, and there we found him. I am so happy to be able to give myself a high five (hundred) on this Sunday morning!
