Week 3 netted 38 Species seen and heard.

A new bird for my lock-down list was the Green Wood-hoopoos, I heard them a few times, and then finally I was lucky to get a couple of photos of one late one afternoon.Green Wood Hoopoo Green Wood Hoopoo

I added two new birds to my garden list this week. One of them was a Barn Swallow. was standing on my balcony one day when I heard a very familiar call. I looked around and was so surprised to see a Tawny-flanked Prinia!  He flew around my house, and I was fortunate to get a few photos. It looked like a small family as I spotted at least three of these cute little birds.Tawny Flanked Prinia Tawny Flanked Prinia

The Amethyst sunbirds had been flitting about during the first week, and I finally managed to pin down this immature male.

And then there are the noisy ones. Hadedas are the loudest birds in the area for sure. The afternoon light was perfect for these photos.

I just love the little Cape White-eyes, and they continued to visit my garden daily.

Grey Go Away birdThe Grey Go-away birds can finish a piece of apple in minutes. But they have become reasonably tame over time, and they tend to bring their babies with them. I’ve become kind of partial to them. Again they allowed me close to take some photos with the macro lens.Grey Go Away bird

This week it was feeding time for the snakes. First one of the Corn Snakes.Corn Snake

GrashopperWhile I was standing on the balcony I saw a little “bird” that flew in a very strange manner. I looked at it through the binoculars, I saw that it was a very big grasshopper. A little while later one came to explore my balcony.Grashopper

It rained during the night. I liked the way that the drops reflected off the Hibiscus.Macro

I heard a Red-throated Wryneck calling on two days, but despite looking for him, I could not spot him.

Week 3 was not the last week of lock-down, and we would continue into week 4.
