Stories about a Welcome and a Goodbye
While I was on my way to the Orpen Gate, a friend messaged me to say that wild dogs were seen on the Orpen Webcam. I was still a few hours away and knew that I would miss them. I arrived at the gate and soon I was inside the Park. When I approached the turn off to the Tamboti camp I noticed a few cars parked next to the road. I was delighted to list Wild dogs as the fourth animal I saw after entering the Park!
They were not doing much – most of them were just sleeping.
They were spread out on the grass, completely in the open and very close to the road. I stopped for a while, but despite a few lifted heads every now and then, it did not seem as if there would be much action any time soon.
And on my last morning on my way out of the Park I saw dogs again! I stopped at the Biyamiti Weir for a while and decided to make a quick stop at Afsaal.
On the way I found a pack of wild dogs sleeping next to the road.
Again, they were not active, but it was a great sighing on my way out of the Park!
