The weather wasn’t great, and maybe that was the reason why the eagles and other birds were very quiet. The eagles did a couple of short flights before disappearing over the ridge.
I took a leisurely walk through the gardens. It is absolutely incredible what you can see when you slow down and look around.
As usual I lifted a few rocks and found beetles, spiders and scorpions.
You don’t have to lift rocks to find spiders. A cute little jumping spider peeked at me from behind a leaf.
Other small spiders were waiting patiently in their webs for a snack to get stuck,
There were also many flying creatures around, including this beautiful dragonfly.
Other flying creatures like these wasps had a bit of a sting in their tails.
Two other flying creatures that delighted me were these butterflies – they were also new to my butterfly list –
A Spotted Sailor. These guys were very interesting to watch – three of them would fly together and then “leapfrog” each other as they flew higher and higher. 
And a beautiful Pirate was hiding in the grass.
