Yellow
Kruger is filled with things that are yellow. The only yellow thing I did not see was a yellow ribbon!
Other than the Yellow-billed Kites and Yellow-billed Storks I’ve already mentioned, I also many other “yellow” birds. It is always great to see Southern Yellow-billed Hornbills. These guys are such characters and some of my favourite birds in the Park.
And of course, Yellow goes hand in hand with Red and Grey – I also saw a few Southern Red-billed Hornbills and African Grey Hornbills as well.
I also saw many Yellow-billed Oxpeckers in the Letaba area. While I was at the Nwanetsi waterhole, there were a few on a Giraffe. This photo may be a bit … mmmm … “intimate”, but it shows just how thorough these little birds can be!
And as with the hornbills, you can’t mention Yellow without mentioning Red. The Red-billed Oxpeckers are much more numerous than their cousins.
This one decided to pose as a hat on this impala’s head.
I also saw some Yellow-fronted Canaries and a Yellow-throated Petronia. There were little yellow flowers everywhere, like little spots of sunshine in the green bush.
And finally: Z is for …..
